Green Power International Pvt. Ltd. has signed an agreement with BUA Group to develop a 20 MW gas-based captive power plant for BUA’s upcoming Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production facility in Nigeria. The partnership reflects BUA Group’s continued commitment to sustainability and positions the company as a responsible leader in the energy and industrial sectors.
The plant will be delivered on a turnkey Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis and will provide a clean, reliable power supply to support the core operations of the LNG facility. By leveraging natural gas, a cleaner alternative to diesel, the project contributes to Nigeria’s energy transition goals and supports BUA’s broader environmental objectives. It is also expected to enhance local energy availability and reduce dependence on imported fuels.
To ensure the long-term efficiency and reliability of the facility, Green Power International will provide a two-year Operations & Maintenance (O&M) package. This will include real-time performance monitoring, preventive maintenance, and technical support to maintain optimal uptime and operational efficiency. The plant will be located on-site at the LNG project and is slated to become operational by early 2026.
Green Power International will use advanced gas engine technology from MWM, a German company with which it has maintained a partnership for over two decades. Known for its high-efficiency distributed energy solutions, MWM’s technology will be central to ensuring consistent and clean energy for BUA Group’s operations.
Commenting on the collaboration, Ashu Jain, Executive Director at Green Power International, said, “This project highlights our global capabilities in delivering clean energy solutions. It’s a chance to demonstrate the reliability and efficiency of our work, and reinforces the trust international clients place in Indian engineering and project execution.”
Abdul Samad Rabiu, Founder and Executive Chairman of BUA Group, added, “This partnership marks a significant step in our clean energy journey. Green Power International’s experience in delivering gas-based power solutions aligns perfectly with our vision for the LNG facility, and we are confident this collaboration will bring long-term value.”
As global momentum toward clean energy grows, collaborations like this one between Indian and African companies set a strong precedent for sustainable development and improved energy access in emerging markets.
