KCP Vietnam Industries Limited has announced plans to expand its Sơn Hòa sugar plant’s daily processing capacity to 15,000 tonnes and launch the second phase of its 45MW biomass power facility in Phú Yên Province, Vietnam, reports Bioenergy Insight.
The company’s co-CEO, Kavitha Dutt, confirmed the expansion strategy during a recent meeting with the leadership of the Phú Yên Provincial People’s Committee. She called on local authorities to expedite the necessary administrative procedures to facilitate the timely execution of both projects.
The proposed US$60 million investment into phase two of the KCP Phú Yên Biomass Power Plant was welcomed by Tạ Anh Tuấn, Chairman of the Phú Yên People’s Committee. He noted that the province had already submitted a request to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, seeking inclusion of the biomass project in Vietnam’s updated National Power Development Plan VIII.
KCP Vietnam, a subsidiary of India’s KCP Group, began operations in the region in 2000 with an initial sugarcane processing capacity of 2,500 tonnes per day. Since then, it has undertaken four rounds of capital expansion in Phú Yên, steadily strengthening its presence in sugar production, biomass energy, and agricultural services.
