USDA’s H-BIP program fuels E-15 availability across the US

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is highlighting the success of its Higher Blend Infrastructure Incentive Program (H-BIP) in increasing the availability of E-15 fuel nationwide. The program aims to help drivers save money on fuel while reducing harmful emissions and pollution.

In its latest round of funding, the USDA has allocated nearly $60 billion for biofuel infrastructure projects in 19 states. One of the beneficiaries is the MB Truck Stop in Rochelle, Illinois, which received a $440,000 grant. The funds were used to install ethanol dispensers, biodiesel storage tanks, and other biofuel equipment. This project is expected to boost biofuel sales by 1.2 million gallons each year, according to USDA’s Betsy Dirksen-Londrigan.

The Association of Renewable Fuels praised the program because of its bigger impact. “It’s given fuel retailers a reason to install biofuel infrastructure, which will soon lead to hundreds of new stations offering E-15 and E-85,” said Robert White from RFA. “These stations aren’t just in the Midwest; they’re also in places like California, Florida, and Northeastern. It’s exciting.

The USDA estimates that 96% of vehicles on U.S. roads today are approved to use E-15 fuel. By supporting projects like these, the H-BIP program is opening up E-15 to drivers across the country and helping reduce the transportation sector’s environmental impact.
