Continental Refining Company is expanding its biodiesel operations in Kentucky, with a project underway to double production capacity at its Somerset facility, Biofuels International Magazine.
The expansion includes construction of a new rail spur connecting the facility to the Norfolk Southern network, allowing the company to distribute its biodiesel products nationwide.
The company said demand for its renewable fuel products has continued to grow at double-digit rates, prompting the investment in additional production capacity and distribution infrastructure.
The project follows the launch of P51, the company’s higher-blend biodiesel product, and marks continued investment in domestic biofuel production despite broader challenges facing agricultural processing markets.
