Nippon Express selected by Tokyo Metropolitan Government for Sustainable Aviation Fuel project

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has appointed Nippon Express as a designated cargo agent for a project aimed at promoting the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in air cargo transport. This initiative seeks to lower CO2 emissions across entire supply chains.

The government will provide subsidies to offset the additional costs of using SAF for air cargo transport through selected cargo agents until March 2025. Nippon Express was chosen for its efforts to advance SAF usage, including its “NX-GREEN SAF Program” and involvement in the “SAF Flight Initiative” with ANA.

The company has set a goal to cut in-house emissions by 50% from 2013 levels by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This project is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s broader initiative to help companies minimize their environmental impact.
