Clean Fuel Fund helping transition Nova Scotia industries to biomass

Nova Scotia will invest $3 million to support its industries in transitioning to cleaner fuels, such as biofuels and wood biomass, reported Canadian Biomass.

The province is reopening applications for its Clean Fuels Fund, designed to assist industries, businesses, and communities in shifting to low-carbon and renewable fuels.

As per media report, the fund aims to replace traditional fuels used in heating, transportation, and industrial processes with cleaner alternatives. These alternatives include biofuels, biomass from forestry waste, green hydrogen, and renewable natural gas.

Natural Resources Minister Tory Rushton commented, “We’re moving toward a cleaner, greener Nova Scotia, and our industries are joining us in this effort. The Clean Fuels Fund will help us transition away from fossil fuels, bringing us closer to our goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.”

Eligible projects may include studies to support the adoption of clean fuels, upgrades to existing facilities to accommodate clean fuel use, and the development of new infrastructure to facilitate the transition.
