Azerbaijan actively exploring opportunities in green hydrogen, biofuels sectors

Azerbaijan is actively seeking collaborative opportunities in areas such as low-carbon technologies, waste-to-energy production, green hydrogen, biofuels, and methane emissions reduction, according to Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov at an international carbon pricing forum in Baku, as reported by Trend.

The minister emphasized that transitioning to alternative energy sources is a key priority for Azerbaijan. With significant potential in renewable energy, the country has successfully attracted foreign investments and is currently in the process of developing solar and wind power plants. He highlighted ongoing efforts to cooperate on low-carbon technologies, waste energy production, green hydrogen, biofuels, and reducing methane emissions, stating, “We are actively engaging with investors to generate renewable energy.”

Jabbarov also noted that projects aimed at generating over 8 GW of green energy through foreign investments are set to be implemented in Azerbaijan by 2030, both on land and at sea. These initiatives are designed to meet domestic energy needs, facilitate the decarbonization of the economy, and enhance export capabilities.

He concluded by mentioning Azerbaijan’s crucial role in the global transition to a green economy, an objective that is increasingly prioritized worldwide.
