The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to strengthen innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship in India’s clean energy and manufacturing sectors.
The two-year agreement, which includes an option for extension, aims to support early-stage climate-tech startups by improving access to funding, mentorship, pilot project opportunities, and market connections. The initiative is designed to nurture a pipeline of scalable and investable ventures aligned with India’s net-zero targets.
As part of the collaboration, GEAPP will launch the Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge (ENTICE)—a competitive platform offering up to $500,000 in rewards for breakthrough solutions. Investment facilitation will be provided through partners such as Spectrum Impact and Avana Capital. DPIIT will integrate the program into the Startup India network and support outreach through key government initiatives.
Speaking on the development, Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary at DPIIT, highlighted the role of entrepreneurship in advancing India’s climate goals. He emphasized that the partnership would create meaningful opportunities for startups to scale clean energy technologies that contribute to India’s long-term net-zero aspirations.
Saurabh Kumar, Vice President – India at GEAPP, called the agreement a key step toward systemic transformation, driven by collaboration between the public and private sectors. He noted that GEAPP’s global expertise, paired with DPIIT’s institutional support and Startup India’s extensive network, would help unlock new possibilities for clean energy innovators.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal and Saurabh Kumar, with senior representatives from both DPIIT and GEAPP in attendance.
