ORSL subsidiary wins Rs 15.46 crore IOCL O&M contract for Gorakhpur CBG plant

Organic Recycling Systems Ltd (ORSL) said on Thursday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Solapur Bioenergy Systems Pvt Ltd (SBESPL), has secured a two-year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for its compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The contract, valued at about Rs 15.46 crore, will run from August 13, 2026, to August 12, 2028. It is the second consecutive O&M contract awarded to SBESPL for the facility, PTI reported.

Under the agreement, SBESPL will provide end-to-end O&M services for IOCL’s 200 tonnes-per-day paddy straw-based CBG plant. Its responsibilities will include plant operations, preventive and breakdown maintenance, safety compliance and manpower management.

The Gorakhpur facility uses agricultural residues such as paddy straw, press mud and cattle dung to produce CBG and organic manure. The project is aimed at supporting renewable energy production, reducing agricultural residue burning and creating livelihood opportunities in rural Uttar Pradesh.

The contract renewal comes as India expands its compressed biogas sector under the government’s GOBARdhan scheme, which provides a unified policy framework for developing the CBG ecosystem. The framework includes measures such as assured offtake, stable pricing, capital assistance, pipeline connectivity and access to finance.

ORSL said the renewal reflects SBESPL’s performance during the previous contract and strengthens its portfolio of recurring revenue agreements with public sector companies in the bioenergy sector.

“Securing a second consecutive O&M contract from IOCL is a testament to the consistent operational performance delivered by our team at Gorakhpur,” ORSL Promoter and Managing Director Sarang Bhand said.

Pankaj Tanwar, CEO-Bioenergy at ORSL, said the company would focus on operational discipline, safety, preventive maintenance and process reliability during the renewed contract period.

ORSL, founded in 2008 and listed on the BSE SME platform in 2023, describes itself as a CleanTech and decarbonisation company focused on waste management and bioenergy technologies.
