100 CBG plants to be set up in UP in coming months, says Hardeep Singh Puri

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday said that Uttar Pradesh is set to witness the establishment of 100 Compress Biogas (CBG) plants in the coming months.

Puri highlighted the installation of CBG plants as a crucial stride towards environmental conservation, augmenting farmers’ incomes, and attaining energy self-sufficiency.

Addressing the inauguration of an Indian Oil CBG plant in Duriapar, Puri noted the significant investment of Rs 165 crore by IOC in this facility. “This facility will utilize 200 metric tons of agricultural residue (primarily paddy straw), 20 metric tons of press mud, and 10 metric tons of cattle dung daily,” he noted.

The Minister underlined the anticipated daily production of around 20 metric tons of biogas and 125 metric tons of organic fertilizer from the plant, envisaging a boost in agricultural productivity.

Expressing contentment with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Green Hydrogen policy aimed at environmental preservation, Puri indicated a forthcoming surge in investments in this sector. He additionally announced plans for constructing a green hydrogen plant in Sonbhadra, his adopted district.
