Washington: United States fuel ethanol production increased by 1% in the week ended October 9, while inventories recorded a marginal rise and exports declined sharply, reported Ethanol Producer Magazine, citing the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on October 15.
Average ethanol production stood at 1.065 million barrels per day (bpd), up 12,000 bpd from 1.053 million bpd recorded in the previous week. However, output remained 9,000 bpd below the level reported during the corresponding week last year.
Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol rose to 23.942 million barrels, an increase of 199,000 barrels from 23.743 million barrels in the preceding week. Inventories were also 1.314 million barrels higher than those recorded during the same period last year.
Meanwhile, US fuel ethanol exports averaged 121,000 bpd, falling 27% from 166,000 bpd in the previous week. Despite the weekly decline, exports remained 13,000 bpd higher than the corresponding period last year.
The EIA reported no fuel ethanol imports during the week ended October 9.
The latest data indicate a modest recovery in domestic ethanol production alongside higher inventories, while the sharp weekly decline in exports points to weaker overseas shipments during the reporting period.
