The Indonesian government unveiled an action plan for the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) during the 2024 Bali International Airshow (BIAS), reported Antara News.

“Today, we are launching our development action plan for efficient sustainable fuels as part of our commitment to achieving net zero emissions,” stated Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, at the event in Badung, Bali, on Wednesday.

As per media report that he mentioned that a meeting would be convened to discuss a roadmap for implementing SAF by exploring potential resources.

The minister identified coconut oil, seaweed, and rice dregs as viable resources.

“We will soon hold a meeting to discuss the roadmap, where we will begin to identify environmentally friendly resources for the aviation sector,” Pandjaitan added.

Additionally, he plans to urge state-owned oil company Pertamina to collaborate with several airlines for further studies on utilizing these resources.
