Tata Power Renewable commissions 419 MW projects in Q2 FY27, up 130% year-on-year

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) commissioned 419 MW of utility-scale renewable energy projects in the second quarter of FY27, registering a year-on-year growth of more than 130% compared with 182 MW executed in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The company also executed 131.2 MWh of battery storage projects during the quarter, the company said in a release to the BSE.

Of the storage capacity executed in Q2 FY27, 101.2 MWh was for TPREL’s own portfolio, while the remaining 30 MWh was delivered for third-party customers.

The company’s strong quarterly performance took its cumulative utility-scale project execution during the first half of FY27 to 645 MW. It also executed 161.2 MWh of storage projects during the six-month period, including 101.2 MWh for its own portfolio and 60 MWh for third-party customers.

Among the key projects commissioned during H1 FY27 were the 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project, the Kalasar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, comprising 227.5 MW of solar capacity and a 101.2 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), the 100 MW Kayathar Group Captive Project and the 72.5 MW Tata Steel Captive Project.

Following these additions, TPREL’s utility-scale operational portfolio reached 7.2 GW, comprising 5.8 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, along with 281.2 MWh of battery storage capacity.

The company attributed its execution momentum to its supply chain network, project management capabilities and partnerships, supported by its focus on quality, safety and operational efficiency.

TPREL expects to execute more than 2 GW of projects during the second half of FY27. The planned additions include 1,075 MW of solar, 969 MW of wind and 274 MWh of battery storage capacity. The company also plans to execute 300 MW of projects for third-party customers during the period.

By the end of FY27, the company expects its cumulative project portfolio to reach approximately 9.3 GW, comprising 6,899 MW of solar and 2,298 MW of wind capacity, along with 555.2 MWh of battery storage.

In FY28, TPREL plans to complete another 2.6 GW of projects, including 1,700 MW of wind capacity, 570 MW of solar capacity and 350 MWh of battery storage. These additions are expected to take its overall operational capacity to approximately 12 GW.

TPREL is a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited and operates across renewable energy generation and storage. Its expanding portfolio forms part of Tata Power’s broader efforts to strengthen its presence in India’s clean energy sector.
