Gensol Engineering Limited, in collaboration with Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd., has been awarded a Rs 164 crore contract to develop India’s first Bio-Hydrogen project. The consortium was selected as the lowest bidder for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the project, which will convert 25 tonnes of bio-waste into 1 ton of hydrogen per day, reported The Economic Times.
Scheduled for completion within 18 months, the project supports India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and represents a significant advancement in sustainable energy. Gensol and Matrix have teamed up with Westinghouse, USA, to implement their patented Pre-Gasification Plasma Induced Radiant Energy-Based Gasification System (GH2-PREGS) technology.
Anmol Singh Jaggi, Chairman and Managing Director of Gensol Engineering Ltd., remarked, “We are proud to be the lowest bidder for the EPC of India’s first biomass-to-green-hydrogen project. This initiative is a key element of our commitment to innovation in the renewable energy sector.”

The project will be developed in partnership with India’s leading power generation company and is considered a milestone in the country’s efforts toward green hydrogen. Gensol and Matrix, who share common promoters, plan to further their collaboration in the Green Hydrogen sector, including potential ventures into Green Steel and Green Ammonia.
