French renewable energy technology company Haffner Energy has secured a reservation for 40 biomass-to-hydrogen units from Canadian partner Mundi Énergies under its CORE100 programme, marking a further step in their plans to develop multi-energy complexes across Quebec, reported Energy News.
Announced on October 13, the reservation is valued at 333,000 euro and is intended to secure the industrial capacity required for Mundi Énergies’ first two large-scale Multi-Energy Complexes in Quebec. Each facility will be designed to meet the specific energy and industrial requirements of its region.
The partners have adopted a modular development model, moving away from the larger, purpose-built installations initially envisaged. The strategy is aimed at allowing projects to be configured according to local requirements and deployed in stages.
Mundi Énergies President Sylvain Perreault said the reservation marked the start of a broader deployment plan targeting 20 multi-energy complexes in Quebec and up to 100 across Canada over the next decade. He added that the ability to secure industrial deployment capacity would become increasingly important as the programme expands.
The partnership, established in December 2025, aims to develop a network of around 20 multi-energy complexes in Canada. Its first project in Bécancour led to the creation of project company INCAD, in which Haffner Energy holds a 20% stake. The agreement also gives Haffner Energy preferential rights to acquire equity interests in project companies established under the partnership.
Haffner Energy and Mundi Énergies have also agreed to complete an 8 million euro equity financing programme announced in July 2026. The funding will be raised through two successive share issues of 4 million euro each and is expected to extend Haffner Energy’s cash runway to more than 24 months.
Haffner Energy Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Philippe Haffner described the reservation as another commercial milestone for CORE100, saying the modular approach would help partners accelerate project deployment while matching production capacity to their requirements.
