US fuel ethanol production increased by more than 2 per cent in the week ended August 21, while exports rose 26 per cent, according to data released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on August 26.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.112 million barrels per day during the week, up 23,000 barrels per day from 1.089 million barrels per day in the previous week. Production was also 42,000 barrels per day higher than in the corresponding week a year earlier.
Ethanol stocks increased slightly to 25.206 million barrels during the week ended August 21, compared with 25.121 million barrels a week earlier. Stocks were 2.657 million barrels higher than in the same week last year.
Fuel ethanol exports rose to 162,000 barrels per day from 129,000 barrels per day in the previous week, an increase of 33,000 barrels per day. Exports were also 41,000 barrels per day higher than during the corresponding week last year.
The EIA reported no fuel ethanol imports for the week ended August 21.
