EnviTec Biogas has begun initial feed-in from a new gas upgrading plant in Slovakia, marking its second completed biomethane project in the country and strengthening its presence in Europe’s renewable energy sector.
The project, developed for CITA VIA s.r.o., is located in Ožďany and upgrades 750 Nm³/h of biogas into biomethane. Company officials said the plant’s capacity could be expanded to as much as 1,300 Nm³/h in the long term, chemindigest reported.
The facility, which has been operating as a biogas plant for over a decade, uses feedstock such as maize, cattle waste and poultry manure. With the addition of the new upgrading system, it will now produce biomethane alongside electricity.
Company representatives said the upgrade will improve efficiency and allow for greater flexibility in operations. Plans are also in place to gradually shift towards using only waste-based feedstock, supporting cleaner energy production.
The project comes as Slovakia steps up efforts to expand renewable energy. Funding support from the European Union and growing interest in biomethane are expected to drive further development in the sector.
With this project, EnviTec Biogas is looking to strengthen its role in supplying gas upgrading solutions as demand for low-carbon energy rises across Europe.
