EV makers offer big discounts to attract corporate buyers before financial year-end

Electric vehicle manufacturers in India have launched special offers and discounts to attract corporate buyers ahead of the financial year-end, aiming to boost sales through tax planning benefits, NewsBytes reported.

Dealers said companies are offering cash discounts, exchange bonuses and corporate benefits worth up to Rs 5.2 lakh. In addition, businesses purchasing electric vehicles can claim accelerated depreciation of up to 40% in the first year, significantly higher than the 15% allowed for petrol and diesel vehicles. This provides companies an opportunity to reduce taxable income while upgrading their vehicle fleets.

Industry dealers said these incentives often lead to an additional 15–20% increase in sales during this period. “Almost every electric carmaker is offering benefits to attract corporate buyers,” a dealer said.

Several automakers, including Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW MG Motor India, VinFast, BYD, Kia India and Tesla, have rolled out special March-end campaigns targeted at corporate and fleet buyers.

These offers combine purchase incentives with ownership benefits to encourage companies to finalise deals before the end of the financial year on March 31.

Automakers are also promoting additional benefits such as access to public charging networks, extended warranties and maintenance packages. These incentives are mainly aimed at small and medium-sized businesses planning to electrify their fleets.

Electric car sales in India have been rising rapidly, though from a relatively small base. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations, sales increased 44% year-on-year to 13,733 units in February. Data from the Vahan portal shows an even sharper growth of 84% in the first 11 months of the 2025–26 financial year, with total sales reaching 175,364 units.
