MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George met with Ditte Juul Jorgensen, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission, on Thursday (local time) to review collaboration under the India-EU Clean Energy and Climate Partnership, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

“Secretary (West) @AmbSibiGeorge met DG ENER @Energy4Europe Ms. Ditte Juul Jorgensen. They reviewed cooperation under the India-EU Clean Energy and Climate Partnership, including in solar, wind, and green hydrogen,” MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X.

Separately, the 8th India-Denmark Foreign Office Consultations were held in New Delhi on Monday.

“Co-chaired by Secretary (West) Sibi George and State Secretary for Foreign Policy Lotte Machon, the consultations reviewed ongoing bilateral cooperation under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership and the Joint Action Plan for 2021-26,” the MEA said in an X post.

According to the ministry, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration across political engagement, trade and investment, renewable energy, sustainability, clean technologies, circular economy, shipping, water, agriculture and animal husbandry, food processing, research and development, and mobility.

They also agreed to enhance cooperation in defence and security, new and emerging technologies, and Arctic affairs, while reiterating their shared commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.

“Denmark is a trusted partner within the EU. The Danish side reiterated its support for the early conclusion of an India-EU Free Trade Agreement during Denmark’s ongoing EU Council Presidency. Both sides exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest and agreed to strengthen multilateral cooperation,” the MEA added.

The statement emphasized that both nations are committed to advancing cooperation under the India-EU Strategic Partnership framework. Denmark reaffirmed its backing for a timely, ambitious, and mutually beneficial India-EU Free Trade Agreement. Discussions also covered multilateral cooperation, including at the UN and in Arctic matters.
