Russian drone strike damages biomass power plant in Ukraine’s Chernihiv Oblast

Three Russian drones struck Clear Energy’s biomass thermal power plant in Ukraine’s Chernihiv Oblast overnight on November 9, according to company co-founder Andriy Grinenko. He shared photos of the damage in a Facebook post, reports The New Voice of Ukraine.

“During the night, three drones targeted one of our Ukrainian thermal power plants — the one my team at Clear Energy and I built back in 2016,” Grinenko wrote. “It became a model for the industry as Ukraine’s first large-scale biomass plant, showing that energy independence can begin with local resources.”

No casualties were reported in the attack.

Clear Energy operates several renewable energy facilities across Ukraine, including biomass and thermal plants, wind and solar farms, and landfill gas stations. The company has also announced projects involving gas piston technology.

Grinenko additionally owns the Czech company RSE s.r.o., which manufactures mobile cogeneration systems based on MWM engines. RSE was a supplier for the first phase of the 20 MW Power One project, launched by Dragon Capital’s Tomáš Fiala and Negen, the firm led by former Ukrenergo head Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.
