Iran takes lead in power generation from biogas power plants and sewage treatment plants

With the opening of the West Tehran Wastewater Biogas Power Plant by the President, Iran has become the largest producer of electricity from the biogas power plants and sewage treatment plants in the region.

During the inauguration of the 17 trillion tomans water and sewage project in Tehran on Thursday morning, Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi also launched the biogas power plant in West Tehran, with a capacity of 7.2 megawatts. Besides generating 50 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, this power plant significantly reduces fuel consumption at the refinery.
