Norwegian company Norsk e-Fuel, Prime Capital, and renewable energy leader RES have joined forces to develop a cutting-edge sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility in North Sweden, reported Airport Technology.
The new project, named Project Alby, will be located in the Ånge municipality, situated about 370km north of Stockholm. This strategic location supports Norsk e-Fuel’s expansion in the Nordic region, complementing its ongoing initiatives in Norway and Finland.
The facility will utilize the innovative Power-to-Liquid technology, which converts water and captured CO₂ into e-Kerosene, a sustainable alternative to traditional aviation fuels. The project aims to produce at least 80,000 tonnes of e-Fuel annually, significantly contributing to reducing aviation’s carbon footprint.
Aligned with the European ReFuelEU Aviation regulation, the plant is designed to support the transition toward more sustainable aviation practices, helping meet the growing demand for eco-friendly fuels in the aviation industry.
