Indonesian Chamber of Commerce urges government support for biodiesel production

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has called on the government to introduce incentives to encourage increased biodiesel production. This request aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s push for expanded use of biofuels in the country, reported Jakarta Post.

M. Maulana, who oversees energy and natural resources strategic planning for Kadin, emphasized the importance of incentives to help producers expand output and invest in advanced processing technology.

“Incentives are essential for producers to scale up and adopt more efficient methods,” Maulana said. He also reiterated Kadin’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts.

“We are prepared to serve as a strategic partner to ensure that the mandatory B40 policy aligns with the national energy and mineral resources road map. This includes securing sustainable raw material supplies and facilitating the absorption of B40 in the domestic market,” Maulana stated, as quoted by Bisnis.

The B40 program, which mandates the blending of 40% biodiesel with diesel, is part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and support renewable energy adoption.
