Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy, Jorgan K. Andrews, spoke at the 21st Indo-US Economic Summit held in New Delhi. He highlighted that the progress made by India and the US in mitigating climate change and transitioning to renewable energy not only benefits the planet but also creates the anticipated green jobs, reported ANI.
During his address at the summit organized by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Andrews emphasized the deepening relationship between India and the US across various sectors. He warned that unresolved climate change issues could significantly impact the shared prosperity of both nations, underscoring the urgency of addressing this challenge.
“The profound impact on our collective prosperity if we fail to tackle these climate change issues together is significant. We are achieving remarkable things at both governmental and private sector levels to reduce emissions, helping India pursue growth and development without worsening global climate issues. These efforts will also lead to the well-paying green jobs we all aspire to,” Andrews stated.
His remarks came shortly after discussions between Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden at the QUAD Summit. Andrews also pointed out that business plays a crucial role in strengthening ties between India and the US.
“The bilateral cooperation between India and the US, which spans trade and investment, defense and security, education, science and technology, cybersecurity, and high technology, promises a better future for both nations. Businesses are vital in enhancing this relationship and paving the way for greater prosperity,” he said.
Additionally, Andrews announced that the India-US Commercial Dialogue and CEOs Forum would take place next week in the US, co-chaired by Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.
“Next week, Minister Goyal will be in Washington, where he will meet with Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. Together, they will co-chair the US-India Commercial Dialogue and CEOs Forum, further strengthening the critical connections between government and industry,” he concluded.
