India: Hardoi to get first biodiesel plant

Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh (India): Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh is set to establish its first-ever biodiesel plant, as the project has been approved. The approval was granted under the state’s bioenergy policy, paving the way for the plant’s construction, which is expected to begin soon, reported Live Hindustan.

The plant, located in Bharawan village of Sandila tehsil, will be set up by Bigfuel Nxtgen India Pvt. Ltd. With a production capacity of 30 KLPD, the plant will be built at a cost of ₹7.22 crore. It will use used cooking oils (UCO), and other waste products to produce biodiesel.

According to the company, the procurement of UCO as raw material will be carried out by Star Processing and Movement India Pvt. Ltd., which is an authorized collector and supplier of UCO.

Once operational, the plant will allow local food businesses and households to sell used cooking oil, creating a new method of waste management while benefiting both residents and local businesses.

The produced biodiesel will primarily be supplied to Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), as well as to other industrial consumers such as DG sets, diesel boilers, heavy construction machinery, and companies including Amritanjali Associates and others.
