H2 Global Energy completes initial studies for green hydrogen and ammonia project in Morocco

H2 Global Energy, a Dubai-based developer, announced on Monday that it has finished initial studies for a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production project in southern Morocco.  The project aims to produce 1 million tonnes of green ammonia each year, reports SOLARQUARTER.

The plant will utilize Morocco’s plentiful solar and wind energy to produce green hydrogen, which will then be converted into green ammonia.  The company says this initiative will help reduce carbon emissions in sectors like agriculture, transportation, and energy storage.

H2 Global Energy has already begun work to secure funding for the project and finalize the engineering design, according to their announcement.

Company representatives recently met with government officials in Rabat to discuss the necessary regulatory framework, investment opportunities, and collaboration needed to move the project forward.

Waleed AlHallaj, Chief Commercial Officer of H2 Global Energy, expressed optimism about the project’s potential. “We are excited about the potential of this project to support Morocco’s transition to a green economy and enhance its position in the global energy market,” he said.
