New biogas/solar power park completed by EnviTec Biogas

EnviTec Biogas AG has achieved a new milestone by completing its second solar park in Buckow, Brandenburg, Germany. This development sees green energy being produced alongside the company’s existing biogas plant and a 65 MW photovoltaic (PV) park at the site.

The new solar park began operations in early October. Energy generated from the facility will be sold at a fixed rate to energy trading company Axpo. Starting January 1, 2025, PowerCo SE, a subsidiary of Volkswagen (VW), will purchase the energy for a period of ten years.

“The 112,788 solar modules installed at the site have the capacity to generate enough green energy to power 17,000 households annually, each with a consumption of 3,800 kWh,” said Markus Pille, Managing Director of EnviTec Energy GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary of EnviTec Biogas. Pille highlighted the significance of a recently signed agreement with PowerCo, noting that it ensures a steady supply of 65 MW of power annually to the battery cell manufacturer, which was founded in 2022.

EnviTec Biogas AG operates 87 plants, making it the largest biogas producer in Germany. The company’s activities extend beyond biogas production, including the production and sale of bio-LNG for the transport sector, the supply of food-grade liquid carbon dioxide (bio-LCO2), and the planning and management of wind and solar energy projects.
