Two people have died, and several others have been seriously injured following an accident at a biogas plant on Funen Island in Denmark, local police have confirmed. The incident took place at the Flemlose Biogas Plant, located about 200 km west of Copenhagen, on Tuesday evening. Emergency services, including police, medical teams, and rescue personnel, have been at the site since 6 p.m. local time, with ongoing efforts to search for any additional victims, Xinhua news agency reported.
“Authorities can confirm that two people have died, and several others are seriously or moderately injured. Rescue operations are continuing,” the police stated in a press release.
Initial investigations suggest the accident occurred during work involving the plant’s silo. Authorities are working with relevant agencies to determine the cause, though no further details have been provided at this time.
The Flemlose Biogas Plant, founded by three local farmers, produces up to 7 million cubic meters of gas annually for Denmark’s natural gas network, according to local media.
