JSW Energy PSP Eleven Limited (JEPEL), a step-down wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has secured orders worth Rs 443.74 crore for a 200 MW/400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) from Bondada Renewable Energy Private Limited, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The disclosure was made under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. Bondada Renewable Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bondada Engineering Limited, and the order covers the supply of BESS and Power Conversion System (PCS) solutions, according to the filing signed by Company Secretary Monica Chopra.
A media release accompanying the filing said JEPEL operates a battery assembly plant in Pune with an annual capacity of 5 GWh. The company described the engagement as part of its strategic expansion in the energy storage segment, noting that battery storage systems are becoming increasingly important for grid stability, peak load management, renewable energy integration and round-the-clock power supply in India.
According to the release, JSW Energy currently has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, comprising 14.53 GW of operational capacity and 13 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable assets, along with a further pipeline of 4.6 GW. The company also holds 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, made up of 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems, it said.
The company said it is targeting 30 GW of power generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, with a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
