Chhattisgarh Govt, GAIL sign MoU to develop gas-based fertiliser project

The Chhattisgarh government has partnered with GAIL (India) Limited to develop a greenfield, gas-based fertiliser project in the state.

A non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The agreement was executed by Rajat Kumar, Secretary of Commerce & Industries, Government of Chhattisgarh, and Rajeev Kumar Singhal, Director of Business Development at GAIL (India) Limited.

Under the MoU, GAIL will conduct detailed techno-economic studies for establishing a urea manufacturing plant with a capacity of 12.7 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT), to be strategically located along GAIL’s Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline (MNJPL) corridor.

Following the completion of these studies, GAIL will make an investment decision on the fertiliser project. The Chhattisgarh government will support the initiative at every stage, including feasibility studies, land identification and allocation, coordination with state and central authorities, assistance with statutory approvals, and provision of essential infrastructure required for project implementation.
