Zelestra India signs MoU to invest ₹6,400 crore in Andhra Pradesh renewable energy projects

Zelestra India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government to invest about ₹6,400 crore in developing 1 GW of utility-scale renewable energy projects in the state, reports Energetica India.

The MoU was signed with the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) during the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam. The event was jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh government, the Confederation of Indian Industry, and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Announcing the agreement, Zelestra India CEO Parag Sharma said the company was “pleased to put forward an investment of ₹6,400 crore” to set up large-scale renewable projects in Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts. He said the plan reflected the company’s confidence in India’s clean-energy push and the state’s supportive renewable-energy policies.

Sharma said the initiative marks the start of Zelestra India’s long-term role in India’s gigawatt-scale clean-energy expansion. He noted that the company’s experience in multiple technologies and project execution would help build reliable, high-performing assets while creating about 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.

He added that Andhra Pradesh’s strong power-evacuation network and encouraging power-purchase systems make it well-suited for large solar, wind and energy-storage projects. “With this partnership with NREDCAP, we renew our commitment to supporting India’s climate goals and contributing to energy security through sustainable projects,” he said, adding that the company aims to work closely with the state government and stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely execution.
