Topsoe, renowned for its carbon emission reduction technologies, has inked a deal with Guangxi Hongkun Biomass to supply its HydroFlex™ technology for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the company’s facility located in the Qinzhou Port Area Free Trade Pilot Zone of Guangxi, China. This marks Topsoe’s inaugural SAF venture in China.
According to Topsoe’s official press release, the project is slated to process 300,000 tonnes of feedstock annually.
Elena Scaltritti, Chief Commercial Officer at Topsoe, commented, “Our expansion of SAF technology globally continues, and we’re excited to secure our maiden agreement to furnish SAF production technology to a Chinese partner. This milestone represents a significant stride in introducing an alternative to traditional jet fuel in this region, aligning with our ongoing commitment to global decarbonization. We eagerly anticipate deepening our collaboration with Guangxi Hongkun Biomass to aid in achieving their decarbonization objectives.”

Guangxi Hongkun and Topsoe will further enhance our collaborative efforts in green methanol, green ammonia, and green hydrogen ventures, fostering green, low-carbon, efficient, secure, and high-quality sustainable development.” The release also mentioned that Guangxi Hongkun Biomass’s SAF production plant is slated to commence construction in May 2024, with SAF production scheduled to commence in the initial months of 2026.
