Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA, known as Eletrobras, a Brazilian power distributor, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Maranhao state to collaborate on the production of green hydrogen.
The agreement outlines joint efforts in advancing renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies and their by-products, as announced by both parties on Tuesday.
Ivan Monteiro, CEO of Eletrobras, affirmed the company’s commitment to supplying green energy sourced from its hydropower plants (HPPs) and transmission infrastructure to support the shared objectives of the parties in energy transition.
Further specifics regarding the project were not disclosed.
This recent MoU follows another signed in March between Eletrobras and engineering consultant Paul Wurth do Brasil, which involves the establishment and operation of a 10-MW facility for green hydrogen and oxygen production.
