Envision commissions world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia production facility in China

Envision, a global frontrunner in green technology and energy transformation, has officially launched the world’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia production facility in China, reported Zawya.

Situated within the Chifeng Net Zero Industrial Park—the largest zero-carbon industrial park globally—this groundbreaking project marks the first time green ammonia is being produced at an industrial scale.

For the first time in commercial operations, the plant integrates innovative energy storage and load flexibility. Excess green power is converted into liquid nitrogen stored in a dynamic air-separation unit, while electrolyzers adjust intelligently to fluctuations in renewable energy, optimizing both energy use and ammonia output in real time.

By using green ammonia as a stable means of transport and storage, Envision has paved a practical way to expand hydrogen use in heavy industry sectors.

The facility runs entirely on the largest off-grid renewable energy system and is the first to be fully AI-powered, enabling real-time process optimization and operational stability at scale, according to Envision’s statement.

With an annual production capacity of 320,000 tonnes of green ammonia and exports starting in the fourth quarter, the facility marks a significant advancement in clean energy and industrial decarbonization.

“This achievement goes beyond technology,” said Lei Zhang, Envision’s Founder and CEO. “Scalable green solutions are now a reality. Achieving net zero is impossible without green hydrogen, and there’s no time to delay. This sets the standard for the future of clean energy.”

Looking ahead, the industrial park aims to produce 1.5 million tons of green ammonia annually by 2028, offering a scalable model for clean industrial development around the world, Zhang added.
