Poland launches biogas and biomethane association, joins forces with 150 organizations

Poland has  launched its first Chamber of Commerce for Biogas and Biomethane (IGBiB), marking a significant milestone in the country’s renewable energy sector. The inaugural meeting, held last week, saw the participation of 150 organizations, all committed to advancing the biogas and biomethane industries.

The newly formed institution aims to advocate for the sector’s interests in discussions with public authorities and support the sustainable growth of biogas and biomethane technologies. The chamber’s efforts will also focus on promoting the environmental and economic benefits of these renewable energy sources.

During the founding event, the leadership of IGBiB was established. Artur Nizioł, President of the Management Board of Grupa Industry S.A., was appointed Chairman of the Board. Additionally, Maciej Roik, editor of “Biomasa” Magazine, and Izabella Żyglicka, of Żyglicka & Partners Law Firm, were named members of the Supervisory Board.

Sławomir Hinc, President of GAZ-SYSTEM, was elected President of the Management Board with 142 votes. The Management Board also includes prominent figures such as Krzysztof Maciąg of TEDOM, Grzegorz Bujnowski from Orlen Group, Jerzy Lilia of LipcoFoods, Marcin Białek from Biogas System, Kamil Kozłowski from Biogas Technology, and Maciej Kosiński of Biomass Magazine.

This new chamber aims to foster collaboration and innovation within Poland’s rapidly growing biogas and biomethane sectors, positioning the country as a leader in renewable energy solutions.
