New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants in Delhi for the scientific utilisation of cattle dung, News on AIR reported.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. The initiative aims to prevent waste generated by dairies in the city from flowing into the Yamuna and instead convert it into biogas and manure.
Under the NDDB model, cattle dung from dairies and gaushalas will be transported directly to plants where it will be processed to produce CBG and manure. The initiative will also include scientific management of waste along the banks of the Yamuna.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and senior officials were present at the event.
MCD Mayor Pravesh Wahi and NDDB Chairman Dr Meenesh C. Shah exchanged the MoU.
