CHARBONE launches green hydrogen hub in Albany, marking US expansion

CHARBONE Corporation has launched its first green hydrogen hub in Albany, marking its entry into the United States and expanding its clean industrial gas network in North America.

The company said the Albany facility is its third operational hub overall and the first in the US, operated through its subsidiary, Charbone Corporation USA. The site is expected to support the company’s growing presence in the Northeast, a region known for its concentration of technology and manufacturing industries, Indian Chemical News reported.

Located within a major technology corridor, the hub will supply ultra-high purity hydrogen and other industrial gases to sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, healthcare, aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

According to the company, the facility is part of its broader plan to develop a decentralised network for producing and distributing industrial gases based on regional demand.

President and CEO Dave Gagnon said the Albany hub represents the company’s entry into the US market and will help build local infrastructure to supply essential materials for future industries. He added that the project strengthens the company’s position in a key technology ecosystem and supports its goal of becoming a major industrial gas supplier in North America.

The expansion comes at a time when demand is rising for high-purity gases used in advanced manufacturing, especially in semiconductor and artificial intelligence applications.

CHARBONE said it is developing a network of facilities for producing, storing and distributing ultra-high purity gases, including hydrogen, helium and oxygen. The company’s approach focuses on smaller, decentralised units to improve supply reliability for industrial users.

It added that its long-term plans are aligned with the global shift towards lower-carbon industrial solutions, with clean hydrogen and specialty gases expected to play an important role in future supply chains.
