Andhra Pradesh: Foundation stone for Reliance Compressed Bio-Gas Plant to be laid on April 2

The foundation stone for the Reliance Integrated Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) Plant will be laid on April 2 in Divakara Palli village, Pedda Cherlo Palli mandal. The ₹131 crore project is expected to generate around 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, significantly boosting employment in the region, reported The New Indian Express.

State IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh and a senior Reliance Group representative, possibly Mukesh Ambani, are expected to attend the grand event. Authorities are actively preparing for the Bhoomi Puja and public meeting, with extensive groundwork, vegetation clearance, and electricity supply installations in progress. Kanigiri Ugra Narasimha Reddy is overseeing the arrangements, ensuring all preparations are completed by April 1.

This bio-gas plant is a key part of the Andhra Pradesh government’s clean energy investment strategy. Thanks to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s efforts, Reliance has committed to investing in the state’s renewable fuels sector. Officials have earmarked 12,100 acres of government land in Kanigiri Assembly constituency for similar projects, with each bio-gas plant requiring approximately 2,000 acres.

The plant will cultivate a special variety of grass to produce bio-gas, with affiliated industries further boosting employment opportunities. To accelerate preparations, a large workforce—including JCBs, earthmovers, and tractors—has been deployed. Teams from the Revenue, Panchayat Raj, and Electricity Departments are working tirelessly to ensure smooth execution.

“We are making all necessary arrangements, including clearing 500 acres of land and establishing a power supply, to accommodate the large public turnout expected for the event,” said the MLA.

This milestone project reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable energy, attracting major corporate investments, and driving economic growth in the renewable sector.
