UAE committed to building sustainable energy future: Amna Al Dahak

Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, the UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment, reaffirmed the country’s dedication to a sustainable energy future and its leadership role in advancing renewable energy worldwide.

Her comments were made on the occasion of International Day of Clean Energy, observed annually on January 26. She emphasized, “International Day of Clean Energy offers an important moment to reflect on how clean energy plays a pivotal role in achieving our climate goals through an equitable and sustainable energy transition, ensuring energy security and a cleaner future for everyone.”

Al Dahak highlighted that the UAE is proud to host three of the world’s largest solar power plants, alongside its newly launched round-the-clock gigawatt-scale solar and battery storage project. These initiatives, along with the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant—which provides nearly 25% of the country’s electricity—underscore the UAE’s ongoing efforts to meet its Net Zero by 2050 Strategy.

She further remarked, “We understand that the shift to clean energy requires global cooperation. The UAE is committed to fostering international partnerships, sharing expertise, promoting innovation, and assisting developing nations in their journey toward sustainable energy solutions.”
