U.S. fuel ethanol production saw a slight increase during the week ending December 20, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on December 27. Ethanol stocks rose nearly 2%, and exports increased by 2%.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.107 million barrels per day for the week ending December 20, marking an increase of 4,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week’s production of 1.103 million barrels per day. Production levels remained unchanged when compared to the same week last year.
Ending stocks of fuel ethanol reached 23.074 million barrels during the week ending December 20, reflecting a rise of 438,000 barrels from the 22.636 million barrels reported the previous week. However, stocks were down by 443,000 barrels compared to the same week last year.
Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 166,000 barrels per day during the week ending December 20, up 3,000 barrels per day from the 163,000 barrels per day recorded the previous week. Compared to the same week last year, exports increased by 34,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending December 20.
