Rajamahendravaram (East Godavari): In response to growing public unrest over Assago Ethanol Industries in Gummalladoddi, District Collector P. Prasanthi has set up a committee to tackle the concerns. On Thursday evening, she held a meeting with officials from the Industries and Environment departments in her office. During the meeting, the Collector announced the formation of the committee, which aims to address the various issues linked to Assago Ethanol Industries. She noted that the committee includes representatives from relevant departments, local residents, and the Assago industry to ensure a well-rounded approach to community concerns, reported Hans India.
The newly formed committee consists of officials from the Revenue, Industries, Environment, and other departments. The Collector indicated that the committee will examine issues raised by residents, particularly the effects of pollution from the industry and job opportunities for local youth. The officials are also expected to conduct field inspections.
Rajahmundry RDO R. Krishna Naik, district industries officer Srivanidhar Raman, executive engineer MBS Sankara Rao from the East Godavari Pollution Control Board, and industries promotion officer Pradeep Kumar were present at the meeting. Meanwhile, protestors in Gummalladoddi have rejected the Collector’s committee, demanding the immediate closure of Assago Industries and submitting a petition to the RDO.
Congress leader Marothi Siva Ganesh and social activist Patamsetti Suryachandra Rao criticized the company for being built in violation of regulations and called for its relocation.
