BiofuelCircle launches major initiative in Uttar Pradesh to empower farmers and combat stubble burning with sustainable biomass solutions

BiofuelCircle has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering rural India to generate wealth from agricultural waste at the event “Parali Se Ujjawal Bhavishya,” held at the Ramnagar Biomass Bank™ in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. The organization fosters a participatory ecosystem at the rural level, deploying over 40 digitally connected machines—including balers, rakers, and slashers—sourced from global agricultural equipment provider Maschio Gaspardo. This initiative aims to streamline field clearing for farmers while addressing the environmental hazards associated with traditional farming methods and promoting biomass entrepreneurship, reported Krishak Jagat.

As per the media report, the event attracted more than 100 farmers and industry partners. This effort is part of BiofuelCircle’s mission to establish local Biomass Banks, which are rural enterprises that aggregate stubble (Parali). In the region, approximately 30,000 Metric Tonnes (MT) of stubble will be collected from 25,000 acres, involving 5,000 farmers across over 30 villages in Uttar Pradesh. The fleet of machines enables locals to create businesses focused on stubble collection, transport, and storage. Farmers can rent their tractors through the BiofuelCircle platform, operate equipment, and earn additional income during the stubble season. The warehouses set up locally provide year-round employment opportunities, with more locations across India planned as the season progresses.

At the event, Manish Kapoor, Vice President of BiofuelCircle, stated, “We are thrilled to launch the first large-scale deployment of modern farm-clearing equipment in Barabanki. This initiative is unprecedented in India and will ensure efficient and timely clearing of farmland. By utilizing advanced machines, we will prevent 30,000 MT of stubble from being burned and create new economic opportunities for local farmers. We have also established three Biomass Banks and warehouses in Barabanki, creating dedicated biomass supply chains for Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants, supported by BiofuelCircle’s digital platform and Biomass Bank model.”

Suhas Baxi, Co-Founder and CEO of BiofuelCircle, added, “The biggest challenge has been the effective collection and timely clearing of stubble, pushing farmers toward less environmentally friendly alternatives. By leveraging telematics, GPS, and our state-of-the-art cloud-based platform, we are building an organized framework for collection, logistics, and storage management at scale. These technological advancements have enabled us to engage 150 locals as tractor drivers, fleet operators, and supervisors, along with over 200 laborers, ensuring rural participation and fostering local entrepreneurship in biomass activities.”

BiofuelCircle is leading the charge in establishing dedicated biomass supply chains for Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants through its innovative digital platform-enabled Biomass Bank model. This initiative not only reduces the environmental impact of stubble burning but also enhances rural economic activity by creating a structured and sustainable biomass supply chain that is inclusive and participatory. The company’s efforts demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices while empowering farmers economically.
