Indonesia plans to implement B40 palm oil biodiesel from January 1 next year

Indonesia will mandate a 40% blend of palm oil-based biodiesel starting January 1 next year, according to senior energy ministry official Eniya Listiani Dewi.

Currently, the country requires a 35% blend of palm oil in biodiesel, known as B35. The government had previously announced plans to increase the blend to 40% next year but had not set a specific implementation date.

Eniya assured Reuters that there are no issues with supply volume or other factors, indicating readiness for the new mandate.

Once in effect, the B40 requirement could boost biodiesel consumption to up to 16 million kilolitres (KL) next year, up from a projected 13 million KL this year, as estimated by the energy ministry.
