Greater Noida: India’s biogas and compressed biogas (CBG) sector attracted investment commitments of more than Rs 3,200 crore at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2026, exceeding the pre-event investment outlook of Rs 2,800 crore and signalling growing investor interest in the country’s bioenergy industry, the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) said.
Held from October 22 to 24 at India Expo Mart and Centre in Greater Noida, the exhibition brought together industry stakeholders to explore investment opportunities, business partnerships and emerging technologies in biogas and CBG production.
The exhibition showcased technologies and solutions covering biogas upgrading, CBG production, biomass utilisation, waste-to-energy and organic waste management, highlighting the commercial potential of the bioenergy sector.
The IBA said the next priority was to translate the investment commitments into financially viable and operational projects. Separately, ET Energy quoted IBA chairman Gaurav Kedia as saying that the focus would be on ensuring these commitments materialised into viable projects.
