Mumbai: The second Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Conclave, beginning in New Delhi on September 28, will focus on expanding SAF production capacity, international technical programmes and the aviation industry’s target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, organisers said, PTI reported.
The two-day event is expected to bring together more than 1,000 delegates, over 100 speakers and industry representatives from more than 25 countries.
Airlines, airports, energy companies, technology developers, investors and financial institutions from India and overseas are expected to attend. The event will provide a platform for investment discussions, technology partnerships, project development and access to international markets, according to the SAF Association, which is organising the conclave.
The programme will include ministerial sessions, technical conferences, capacity-building workshops, investor and buyer meetings and leadership roundtables. Business-to-business and business-to-government meetings, technology showcases, exhibitions and memorandum of understanding signings are also planned.
“India has the opportunity to become a global SAF hub, but this will require an ecosystem, not just a mandate,” said Rohit Kumar, secretary general of the SAF Association and CMAI.
He said the association aims to bring government agencies, industry, technology companies, financial institutions and international partners together to convert India’s SAF plans into projects and production.
Global studies estimate that India could produce about 40 million tonnes of SAF annually by 2050, accounting for around 10% of potential global production.
The conclave is expected to focus on building the investment, technology and supply-chain ecosystem needed to expand India’s SAF industry and strengthen its role in the global aviation fuel market.
