GeoPura partners Sunbelt Rentals to expand hydrogen power access across UK

GeoPura and Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland have entered into a trade partner agreement to make hydrogen-based clean power solutions more widely available through a national rental network, aiming to provide an alternative to diesel-based temporary energy systems.

Under the agreement, Sunbelt Rentals will include GeoPura’s Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) and green hydrogen supply within its equipment hire portfolio. The partnership brings together GeoPura’s hydrogen technology and supply chain with Sunbelt’s nationwide delivery and service network, offering customers access to ready-to-use, low-emission power solutions, TwinFM reported.

GeoPura’s HPUs operate as self-charging battery systems powered by hydrogen, generating electricity through a fuel cell process. According to the companies, the system produces only water and heat as by-products, enabling silent, zero-emission power suitable for construction sites, events and off-grid applications. The units can replace diesel generators or work alongside renewable and grid-based systems to support continuous power supply.

The hydrogen used is produced at certified low-carbon sites in the UK and delivered through a managed logistics network. The system also includes remote monitoring for performance tracking and emissions reporting, ensuring operational efficiency and traceability.

The collaboration aligns with Sunbelt Rentals’ sustainability initiative “Our Planet,” which focuses on reducing emissions and offering low-carbon technologies. By adding hydrogen solutions alongside battery storage, solar and hybrid systems, the company aims to provide a broader mix of clean energy options for customers.

Andy Doherty, sales director at Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland, said the partnership would help meet growing demand for practical low-carbon power solutions that integrate with existing site systems. He added that the collaboration would make it easier for customers to adopt zero-emission power alternatives.

GeoPura chief executive officer Andrew Cunningham said the agreement marks a step towards scaling hydrogen power deployment. He noted that combining GeoPura’s technology with Sunbelt’s distribution network could accelerate adoption and support the transition away from fossil fuels.

The companies said the offering is expected to support industries seeking to reduce emissions, improve air quality and meet environmental targets, while ensuring reliable temporary power across a range of applications.
