In a move linked to the growing push for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), Bangchak Corporation has introduced a programme that allows consumers to exchange used cooking oil for transport fuel, while promoting waste-to-energy solutions.
The campaign, titled “Fry to Fly – 2 litres for 1 litre,” is being conducted from April 6 to 30 across select service stations in Bangkok and nearby provinces, Retail News Asia reported.
Under the initiative, individuals can bring in two litres of used cooking oil and receive one litre of regular-grade diesel or gasohol in return. The offer applies only to standard fuels and excludes premium variants.
The company said the programme is an extension of its efforts to convert used cooking oil into sustainable aviation fuel, while also delivering immediate benefits to consumers by lowering everyday fuel expenses.
Each participant can exchange up to 20 litres of used oil, with a standard conversion of one kilogram per litre for ease of calculation.
A total of 15 service stations across Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani are participating in the initiative.
The move comes amid rising energy costs, with the company aiming to encourage recycling and reduce waste, while supporting the broader transition towards cleaner fuel alternatives.
