Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has won an inter-state transmission project worth approximately Rs 8,500 crore in Andhra Pradesh, the company said in a stock exchange filing on July 24, 2026. The project, called “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen/Green Ammonia Projects in Vizag Area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I),” was awarded through the government’s Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework, where AESL emerged as the most competitive bidder.
According to the company, the transmission system has been planned to facilitate power supply to proposed Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in the Vizag area, catering to an estimated demand of around 4,500 MW. The project is also expected to support growing load requirements from the Pendurthi-Vizag region, where data centre and digital infrastructure investments are expanding.
The project will be housed under a special purpose vehicle, Vizag Power Transmission Ltd. Its scope includes setting up a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV GIS substation at Pendurthi in Vizag and a 3×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV substation at Khammam-II. With this addition, AESL said it will add 1,582 ckm of transmission lines and 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity, taking its overall transmission network to 29,531 ckm and 1,33,675 MVA of transformation capacity. The company’s transmission orderbook now stands at more than Rs 80,000 crore.
Kandarp Patel, Chief Executive Officer of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, said the Vizag transmission project was an important step in building the energy backbone for India’s next generation of industrial growth. “It will support the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia capacity in Andhra Pradesh, while also strengthening the grid for emerging digital infrastructure demand in the Pendurthi–Vizag region,” he said, adding that AESL remained committed to developing resilient, future-ready transmission networks.
The company noted that Vizag is emerging as a significant digital infrastructure hub, backed by large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) and hyperscale data centre developments, planned subsea connectivity, and associated clean energy and industrial infrastructure. As green hydrogen generation and data centres scale up in the region, reliable high-capacity transmission infrastructure will be critical for power availability, grid stability and long-term industrial competitiveness, the company said.
The project is contracted to be delivered within 30 months.
