Green energy output in North Macedonia rises 46% in January

North Macedonia’s power producers generated 49,427 MWh of electricity from renewable sources in January, marking a 46.1% increase compared with the same month in 2025, SeeNews reported, citing the National Electricity Market Operator (MEMO).

There were 177 renewable energy producers operating in the country in January, slightly down from 178 a year earlier, MEMO said in a statement on Friday.

Hydropower remained the largest contributor, with 92 plants producing a total of 30,141 MWh. Solar power from 79 photovoltaic plants generated 601 MWh, while two wind power plants contributed 16,995 MWh. Five biogas and biomass thermal plants added 1,690 MWh to the total.

Electricity from renewable sources accounted for 7.01% of total power generation in January.

The total installed capacity of renewable energy producers in North Macedonia stands at 177.793 MW.
