Godavari Biorefineries has announced a partnership with Synthomer to develop bio-based alternatives to fossil-based monomers. The partnership strengthens GBL’s commitment to innovation and highlights its focus on delivering customer-focused, lower-carbon solutions, the company said in an exchange filing.
Under the partnership, Synthomer is commercialising bio-based butyl acrylate made from bio-based butanol supplied by GBL, helping support the industry’s shift toward more sustainable raw materials.
Samir Somaiya, Chairman and Managing Director of Godavari Biorefineries Limited, said sustainability is a key part of the company’s business strategy and innovation plans. He noted that the collaboration with Synthomer reflects the company’s commitment to advancing bio-based alternatives that can reduce carbon footprint across the value chain.
He added that by using renewable feedstocks and its integrated biorefinery capabilities, the company aims to support partners and customers in moving away from fossil-based materials toward more sustainable options. Such partnerships are important for speeding up the adoption of green chemistry, building a more circular and resilient chemical industry, and advancing the company’s vision of creating a better world, he said.
Chris Brown, Vice President of ESG at Synthomer, said the partnership allows the company to provide customers with a lower-carbon alternative to fossil-based monomers, helping them meet their emissions targets while addressing growing demand for sustainable solutions.
He added that expanding access to bio-based products strengthens the resilience of Synthomer’s monomers portfolio and ensures the company can continue meeting the changing needs of its customers.
